This is my favorite time of year

The season of giving

The season of cheer

I remember memories fond and dear

Over the years

 

I have grown so much since then

Opening presents

Believing in Santa Clause

Getting my first Nintendo game system

 

I remember getting a set of cars

And sing-along Disney videos

A Gameboy Advanced

And this year

I will get something

Even more precious

 

I will spend time with my fiancé

Get to look at wedding rings

And dream of the day

We get married

 

I will see our photos developed

Think back to Prom night

Such delight

That comes to my mind

Thinking of treasures past

 

I will get to rip open

Dozens of presents

Have dinner at Grandma Jeanie’s

And treasure every memory made

 

I will get to spend time

With my family

 

I will remember

Last year’s Christmas spent

At Carole’s

In snowy Arizona

Watching the stars shine bright

In the desert sky

And waiting

For the Havelinas to come out

 

What other surprises await me?

 

The gift of giving

Is always more special

Than the gift itself

What occurred

Over the cool presents

This year

I will share a Christmas party

With my best friend

And enjoy good food

As we exchange our hearts
